If you are interested in being a part of ending Veteran homeless in Seattle/King County, consider joining the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) team at Sound. We offer the opportunity to join a passionate team of 20+ individuals who are leading the effort of ending Veteran homeless in Seattle/King County. We are looking to employ individuals who want to join our mission at the forefront of this effort.   Through 2022, our combined efforts have reduced Veteran homelessness by 45%, and we are on path toward cutting it in half in 2022. Overall, 80% of the Veteran households who work with SSVF move from homelessness to housing, confirming that Rapid Rehousing and Homelessness Prevention approaches are a critical part of ending homelessness.   Our SSVF case management team works together with approximately 450 Veteran households annually, assisting Veterans experiencing literal homelessness in obtaining housing as well as assisting Veteran households at-risk of homelessness in obtaining housing stability. Our team splits time between working in the community and the office/home, and takes the approach of, “meet them where they’re at”, literally, as an effective way to build relationships and trust, which leads to housing and stability.   As an SSVF Case Manager, you should believe in Housing First principles, and have demonstrated an ability to be resourceful and knowledgeable of housing resources. See below for a more in-depth overview of the role and day-to-day responsibilities.

The Expanded Community Services (ECS) program is a community-based team that works with clients placed in Adult Family Homes (AFHs) throughout the community. Clients have both behavioral and medical issues with a history of lost placements. Clinicians are assigned to a region so that they are able to devote their time to working with clients and the AFH staff in a particular area. Clinicians on this team are in the community much of the time, setting their own daily schedules and agendas.   In addition to working with individual clients there are also many opportunities to collaborate with facility staff, other providers, programs, systems and collaterals. Each ECS client has a state social worker who works in tandem with us. This program has an excellent success rate with the overall goal of helping our clients be successful in their placements and within their communities.  We do this by connecting with our clients and their staff, helping to develop useful plans and tools that the client and staff can utilize to work together and promote a healthy, stable environment.   Benefits of working on the ECS team (according to current ECS clinicians): - Having a role as a consultant and expert with the opportunity to educate key members involved with client care. - Developing relationships with not only clients but also with the staff in the home to provide support that is appreciated and valued. - Setting their own daily schedule with freedom to determine priorities on a given day. - Not being stuck in an office-being out in the field, working with a variety of people and needs. - Being on a close-knit team that supports a culture of self-care. - Networking opportunities-exposure to other systems across our area, meeting new people in various roles. - Having the freedom to utilize individual strengths and abilities. Staff can be very creative in terms of working with clients and caregivers; bringing their own approaches, ideas and talents. Plenty of opportunities to think outside the box.
