We’re seeking a dedicated Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Manager to oversee the operations of our Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Team (MRRCT). This critical role involves working hand-in-hand with emergency responders to deliver lifesaving, community-based behavioral health interventions throughout Northeast and South King County. 

 

As the Mobile Crisis Manager, you'll be the driving force behind a 24/7 crisis intervention team, ensuring that your staff is fully supported and equipped to respond to emergencies with speed, compassion, and professionalism, using crisis interventions are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in harm-reduction principles.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management: 
  • Oversee the daily operations of the mobile crisis team, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to best crisis intervention and behavioral health care practices. 
  • Ensure that all crisis teams are adequately staffed and meeting response guidelines. 
  • Provide oversight to ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in harm reduction principles. 
  • Ensure compliance with HCA MRRCT guidelines and other applicable state and county regulations. 
  • Diversity, Equity, Justice, Inclusion: Relate to others professionally, respecting individual and cultural differences. Ensure you and your team understand how cultural backgrounds might impact crisis intervention and treatment. 
  • Quality Assurance:  
  • Monitor the quality of services provided by the mobile crisis team, conducting regular evaluations of case documentation, client feedback, and team performance. 
  • Ensure MRRCT provides at least two follow-up attempts after crisis interventions and that follow-up services are documented and conducted per the individual’s consent. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of crisis prevention plans to help individuals manage future crises effectively. 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of MRRCT services, including the integration of innovative crisis response models. 
  • Lead efforts to improve service equity by ensuring that the crisis team responds to all residents within the area of responsibility in King County, regardless of insurance status. 
  • Use reports provided by quality & compliance, finance, and people operations, to ensure the clinic is meeting KPIs and clients are meeting treatment outcomes. 
  • Collaboration with Community Resources: Strengthen the mobile crisis response network by building and maintaining relationships with local emergency services, behavioral health agencies and facilities, health care providers, and community organizations that provide support for social determinants of health. 
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to crisis intervention services, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards. 
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and analyze data related to crisis interventions, prepare reports for management on program outcomes, and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Ensure all required data elements are documented accurately, including response times, crisis outcomes, and follow-up efforts.  
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on program performance, crisis trends, and service gaps. 
  • Crisis Response Oversight:  
  • Oversees all clinic operations and ensures that clinic supervisor(s) and clinic staff are aware of and following Sound policies and procedures.  
  • Develops and fosters a culture of collaboration, peer consultation and commitment to professional improvement.  
  • Interprets and evaluates staff reports, observes performance, evaluates staff, and problem solves clinic related issues, including front door, office space use, etc.  
  • Ensure teams are deployed to crisis situations in a timely and efficient manner, prioritizing cases based on urgency.  
  • Ensure that crisis interventions align with the least restrictive approach, aiming to divert individuals from hospitals and jails, and reduce reliance on law enforcement.  
  • Collaborate with local hospitals, behavioral health providers, first responders, law enforcement, and other community stakeholders to coordinate care and ensure continuity of services. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees.  
  • Actively plans, assigns, and directs work responsibilities of the team members.  
  • Conducts performance evaluations, delivering praise, incentives, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions as warranted. 
  • Engages in addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Provide direct supervision to MRRCT supervisors, ensuring that clinical and administrative responsibilities are carried out effectively. 
  • Monitor the performance and well-being of all MRRCT staff, offering support and guidance to manage high-stress situations. 
  • Facilitate regular supervision meetings and case reviews to evaluate the quality of services provided and identify areas for improvement.  
  • Foster a supportive team environment that promotes continuous learning and professional development.  
  • Participate in complex crisis cases and facilitate clinical decision-making, ensuring that each client's needs are adequately addressed using the least restrictive clinically appropriate interventions 
  • Facilitate training and workshops in the community to educate stakeholders about mental health crises, available resources, and the role of the mobile crisis team. 
  • Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their crisis assessment and intervention skills. 

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

     

    • Education: Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a counseling-related field (MSW, MS, MA). 
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health services or crisis intervention, with at least 3+ years in a management or supervisory role, and a strong emphasis in working with individuals and families in crisis, plus community organizations is highly preferred. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

     

    • Flexibility and willingness to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, to oversee crisis response operations.  
    • Proven management and leadership abilities.  
    • Skill and experience in working with a wide range of behavioral health disorders. 
    • Presenting problems and communicating effectively with collateral organizations working with the individual and/or the family. 
    • Ability to work well independently is necessary.  

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS 

     

    • Mental Health Professional (MHP) designation is required. 
    • Washington State licensure as LMHC, LICSW, or LMFT is highly preferred.  
    • Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor (or other DOH credential to practice) credential within the first 60 days of hire. 
    • Must have a Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record. 
    • Must pass a criminal background check.  

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

     

    • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.    
    • Must be able to travel to crisis mobile team’s location as needed 
    • Must be able to work both in office as well as in community settings and homes, sometimes in high-stress or unstable environments.  
    • May involve on-call responsibilities to support the mobile crisis team as needed during high-demand periods.  
    • Requires manual dexterity, balance, eyesight, and hearing.   
    • Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for eight or more hours a day, using office equipment such as cellphones and laptops.   
    • Individuals must be able to engage vendors, team members, clients, and others over the phone and in person by voice.   
    • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects up to 50 pounds as needed for patient care.  
    • May be subjected to hazardous chemicals, adverse weather conditions, communicable diseases, and possible verbal/physical abuse due to people being under the influence of illicit drugs or having undiagnosed/diagnosed mental health condition(s).  
    • This position will drive a mobile unit vehicle or other vehicle (that is provided by Sound). In the off-chance department vehicles are under maintenance, staff may be asked to drive their personal vehicles and may submit mileage reimbursement for shift-related driving.
