Overview

The Team Member in this position provides mental health evaluation and treatment to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals of all ages.  This position requires that culturally aware clinicians are fluent along the sign language continuum, and maintain liaison with other human service agencies in the Deaf Community.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Provide individual, group, and family treatment, case management and support services to Deaf and hard of hearing children and adults.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, assess problem areas and strengths; evaluate client needs.
  • Consult with medical doctor or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amend plan as directed.
  • Provide consultation and training.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Understand recovery concepts in behavioral health.
  • Apply recovery concepts, as appropriate to my work at Sound.
  • Synthesize and demonstrate recovery concepts in my work at Sound.
  • Participates in ongoing program development and assessment.

Establishes and maintains positive, ethical, and professional working relationships with clinical team members, clients, family members, and outside organizations. Relates to a wide variety of people including members of ethnic and sexual minority populations and is respectful of individual and cultural differences.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a counseling-related field (MSW, MS, MA)
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a psychotherapist or case manager with children preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Fluency in American Sign Language.
  • Knowledge of Deaf Culture & the sign language continuum.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work as a team.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and skills quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to manage crisis effectively.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain or already has a Mental Health Professional designation
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have WA state driver’s license and insurable driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must have reliable transportation and be able to travel within King County, ambulate in and around community settings (schools, homes, etc.), sit at a desk for four or more hours a day, and use office equipment, including phones and computer keyboards, for four or more hours per day. Individuals must be able to engage vendors, team members, clients and others over the phone and in-person by voice. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. Pay Range: $26.27 - 27.61 per hour
